Turians are an honourable and disciplined race. Why do you think humanity warred with them immediately after first contact in the year 2157?
o They feared our potential and saw us as competitors o They wanted the planet Earth and our colonies for themselves o There was a misunderstanding that blew out of proportion o They probably always attack first to probe for weaknesses o Other, read my comments _________________ Johnn Four BioWare Web Monkey #4 Mass Effect - BioWare's sci-fi action RPG now availableEdited By Johnn Four on 11/07/06 22:59 |

I'm going to say that one. Mostly because being honerable and stuff I don't think they'd attack without a REALLY good provocation. |

I'd have to say this, for the same reason as Bowen_Jade. _________________ Caught between reality and imagination |

Gonna have to go with this, since I believe that it was more the fault of the Humans than the Turians.
Maybe we accidently invaded Turian space or insulted a high ranking member of their government/monarchy, which led to them attacking us and both races getting involved in a needless war. This would create a nice, conflicting introduction for humanity in the larger galaxy. _________________ The Shining South - Founding Member Click Here |

I'm going with the misunderstanding one. It seems the most logical considering the fact that the Turians are an honorable species. |

I have to go with this one -- humanity was far too vulnerable at that point in time, and I doubt we would have willingly started a war. The Turians, as people have mentioned, don't seem like the types to needlessly start a war...unless they had ulterior motives? Ahh, the potential!
...and another possibility that I just thought of merits its own thread, so I shall go make one |

Why the hell does it always have to be humans that accidently insult them? We're as new to them as they are to us, couldn't it have been that High Bird guy of the Turians just said, "my you are looking rotund" to Kaiser Lurdenfarsch the III starting a big misunderstanding because the Turian just wanted to say that he didn't look malnurished? Why does it ALWAYS have to be our fault?
oh, and I voted that they prbably wanted Earth for themselves, i mean, face it, Earth would make any alien jelous. _________________ The walking dead are just misunderstood... If you had that poor quality of skin you'd eat human brains too! |

-There was a misunderstanding that blew out of proportion
I am going with this one as well. I'd guess that we might have accidentally invaded their space and, seeing the human's technology, assumed they were preparing to attack (not realizing that they hadn't been space fairing that long and were just kind of poking around) and that leads to a confrontation. _________________ Sure I'd love to help you out. I think something like "the Humans invading Turian space without knowing and therefore provoking a war" seems likely so I'll go for

That actually makes perfect sense. We were in Turian space without realizing it and when they tole us to leave, we didn't understand them so they attacked. Good idea Psyro. |

I think that humans would be responsible for starting the war - either by unknowingly trespassing in Turian space or activating weapon systems when they saw the Turians coming - this could be a sign of mistrust or something, and i'm pretty sure humanity is paranoid about hostile aliens! |
