I’m planning on making a sentinel so I was doing some research on them and I was wonder not being able to use guns but having really good biotic and tech powers seems a good trade off... right well anyways I was wonder if sentinels lack combat are they met for people who have beaten and have a good understanding of the game like what Kotor 2 did with consulours I know you did not make it.
Basically will I alone be able to KILL or will I just provide support for the team?
Come on someone has to know ... ... ... Right? anyway if you have an Aswer or an Estimate or even a guesstimate feel free to post _________________ Im afraid thiss could leed you down an all to farmilar path |

i think you can use pistols.. i always use the warrior type person, like on oblivion i barely used magic, always used swords. anyways.. guns FTW. they pack more oomph. |

I went into the game thinking of a Sentinel as being like a D&D wizard or sorcerer -- cool booms all over the place, but no good in a stand-up fight.
As it turns out, they're a lot cooler than that -- since combat is based on player skill as well as stats, a good player can do pretty well in an average fight just by knowing when to grab cover and when to strafe. What's cool is that the Sentinel is so incredibly flexible. Whether I'm fighting a mob, a big boss, or creatures with special attacks and powers, I've got something that I can use to mess with the enemy (or help myself and my buddies).
I think you'll be fine whatever you want to play. Personally, I'd recommend one playthrough on a class with advanced weapon training in at least two weapons (the Infiltrator and Vanguard, and of course the Soldier), just so you can get the most enjoyment out of the cool combat options, and one playthrough on a class with tech or biotics powers, so that you can see the sweet effects. |

Awesome. That just confirms my choice of playing the Sentinel first. I think the mix of biotics and engineering will allow for an incredible amount of flexibility when solving tactical problems. In Oblivion, my character used a mixture of magic and sneak skills to bypass fights or to even them up. I like that kind of combat problem solving. _________________ If mankind minus one were of one opinion, then mankind is no more justified in silencing the one than the one - if he had the power - would be justified in silencing mankind. -John Stuart MillEdited By Darth Errath on 06/22/07 20:40 |

I'm really happy to hear that you can use twitch game skills to defeat more powerful enemies and your character stats don't completely determine your chances of success. I'm dying to experience the combat in this game. It really seems like their planning on having the best of both genres (shooters and rpgs).

That is what I wanted to hear. Strafing, to me, indicates they are using the typical two analog control scheme (left for movement, right for camera control/aiming). I maybe jumping to conclusions here but to me that little statement means a lot.
...Actually, it could also indicate a lock on combat gameplay mechanic, like Zelda or Metriod Prime, which is not as exciting to me. I take it back that comment isn't as revealing as I originally thought it was. |

Yes, unfortunately, I get the sense that most people on these forums are excited by the Soldier or Vanguard classes. I think the potential for interesting effects and tactics with the Sentinel should be taken more seriously. Eventually I will play all the classes, but the Sentinel excites me most.
I read somewhere that there will be six other character classes as well. If so, I greatly look forward to whatever opportunities they provide. Perhaps they'll be kind of like the prestige classes in KoTOR 2? _________________ If mankind minus one were of one opinion, then mankind is no more justified in silencing the one than the one - if he had the power - would be justified in silencing mankind. -John Stuart MillEdited By Darth Errath on 06/22/07 21:57 |

Yeah I think that’s exactly what they will be like I like Kotor 2 and the fact you can turn most people into Jedi Mira atton handmaiden Disciple hat was really cool But I think Me is going to Blow it away and yeah people overlook the sentinel they really do but this game is not just based on guns Edited By Veckonal on 06/22/07 22:20 |

Honestly, I'd rather have one of my teammates do the tech/biotic stuff to mess with the enemies. It'll be fun to be shooting my way through a situation and watch for engaging openings that my sentinel/adept/engineer create.
Maybe... vanguard/infiltrator/sentinel? I just wish I could use heavy armor... |

Those other 6 classes are the same as the prestige classes in KotOR. Just had to mention that. |

I cant seem to choose a class, it hurts. I dont want to be a Soldier, it just sounds too boring. I'd go for Infiltrator but I dont want to be gimped for when the enemy is right up in your face, say just when you finished a conversation with them. |
