So a little while back, BioWare hosted a press event where we brought a number of members from different press groups (newspapers, online media, etc) to Edmonton to experience Mass Effect. They got to be wined and dined by PR, shown some cool Mass Effect demos (driven by yours truly), interviews the Dev team and some hands on time with Mass Effect itself. It was a great time, the press enjoyed themselves and we got the word out about Mass Effect.
Jay and I, your intrepid Community Team, thought to ourselves "This was cool. It's a shame we can't do this for people in our community." Then we thought "Why can't we do something like this for our community?"
So we ARE going to be doing this for the community. Yep, we are going to be bringing about a dozen or so people from across North America here to BioWare for the same sort of experience that the press all had. We're paying for their airfare and accommodations. We're going to buy their meals. We're going to give them tours of the BioWare office. We're going to show them cool Mass Effect demos. We're going to give them interview time with Casey and teh ME Leads. We're going to give them hands on time with the game before it is available in stores. AND. because Jay and I are sweet guys who love our community, we're going to be sneaking them in to the UBER-exclusive Mass Effect BioWare Release Party! How's that for Community coolness?
Who's coming? Well, Jay and I with help from the Microsoft Community team have selected a number of people to come out for the event from the BioWare, Pandemic and Microsoft game communities. Not everyone we invited was able to make it (some people have jobs and stuff that prevent this sort of thing), but we have a few people from these boards who'll be coming. I won't "out" them to you yet, but if they want to stop in and confirm their attendance they're welcome to.
Now, who's your favorite trip offering, game based Evil Community Coordinator? Go on, you can say it.

Ah man. I am soooooooooooo jealous. One day that'll be me. All I want is a thorough break down of the talents for class and the abilities that come with it. That includes charm and intimidate. If can get that then I'll just wait until the twentieth for anything else. |

I guess I'll break the ice, mainly because I'm interested in who else is going to this thing.
I'm going, and taking three days out of my regular life for what I see as a once-in-a-lifetime chance (that is, the chance to gorge myself on BioWare's dollar), and I can't wait.
And one final thanks (yeah, not like I'll thank you a million times when I'm up there) to Chris and Jay for setting this whole thing up and inviting me.

Nah, just kidding. Congrats to those who are going. It's a great idea from Bioware. I guess the airfair from the UK would have been a little expensive anyway..

That's incredibly cool and very nice.
Congratulations to those who were invited! Hope you all have fun partying with the Mass Effect team.
If it's agreeable with the Dev team, those of you who are going will definitely have to give the rest of the community members here your impressions of what you'll be able to play of Mass Effect.
Heh - I usually don't get so excited about something that I'm not a part of, but I can't seem to help myself this time.
Once again - congratulations to all those who were selected to visit BioWare.
Those of you who are going will also have to tell the rest of the community members here what Evil Chris *really* has on his desk. Shruken heads? Cabbage Patch Kids? The ashes of bad-forum-goers?

I knew it ... why the heck did I knew this? NORTH AMERICA!!!!!! What the heck do you got against europe? ... I ... I hate austrai! why is this not in north america ... such a trip would have been so cool ...
