I have the same exact error.
The game was working fine until I installed newer ATI drivers for my x1950 Pro.
I'm also having the silly pixelated depth of field error ... |

Same error here, it has rendered the game unplayable for me.
My computer has recently been reformated with a fresh install of Win XP (32bit) Pro SP3 fully updated.
Specs: AMD Athlon FX-53 1Gig Ram ATI Raedeon X1950Pro Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Plat
All drivers (inc mobo) have been updated to their latest version. DX9c also check.
I have tried anything i could find on these forums: reinstalled, killed all nonessential background apps inc anti-virus. So far nothing has worked. I would be able to play for about a minute or so, see the hourglass and windows cursor pop up and the General protection fault error.
General protection fault! History: GMatrix2d::Swap() Address = 0x10babc78 (filename not found) Address = 0x8d5151ec (filename not found)
(note: the addresses change everytime)
Seems to be a number of us with the same issue. Whats going on? |

Have you tried running it without SP3? SP3 has caused random issues with XP since launch, worth a shot to check. |

Don't know if it's SP3 or not.
A few who have posted regarding this same problem are running SP2. Also another in a similar thread said he updated to SP3 thinking it might resolve the issue (no go for him either unfortunately).
Worth a shot maybe? Its a huge pain to go through for one game (as awesome as it is). |

Yeah. I'm as stumped as everyone else is regarding the issue. My best suggestion is just to be as detailed as possible in recounting how it happens to hope Bioware can figure something out soon. |

Same deal,
After installing it and pressing 'Play' I get the exact same error message.
I'm running WinXP SP2 with an NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT.
On a side note, it's really unfortunate (holding back anger, here) that this is happening, I've been looking forward to this since they released it for the XBOX. |

I am having the same problem.
I updated by NVIDIA driver to the latest, and then I was able to play for a while, but then it quit working again.
Could we get some support on this? I never thought I would be dealing with this with a Bioware game. How disappointing. |

Same issue. I managed to defeat the saferun issue, just to hit this one.
Initially, I encountered it pre-SP3. I then updated to service pack 3 and it still occurred, so I don't believe it's related to the service pack.
I also updated to the latest nvidia drivers and still have the same problem. |

same here... this game tempted me to actually buy the incredibly despised by me and my family Microsoft's 360 to play it. But I decided to just play it on the windows we have only for the gaming. I'm am sure this is somehow microsoft's fault. I asked using the ea support thing. Nearing the 22 hour mark...
I despise you general protection fault... Edited By lx_theo on 05/30/08 02:02 |

Has anyone tried reinstalling XP (or vista if you have that) or using a different disc? |

Add me to the list of people getting this error. I'm going to go update my GPU drivers; I'll post again if that fixes it. |
