Okay, I have been trying to get a straight forward answer for a straight forward question for the last couple of days and the technicians at EA Support keep failing at reading comprehension.
As it been said in the Mass Effect tweakguide that if you uninstall Mass Effect you get an activation back. I decided to ask EA Support if that is true. The exact question is:
When uninstalling Mass Effect do I regain a activation?
Here is one reply from a Chris P.:
Quote: Disc based authentication required authentication every time you launched the game. Online authentication is more flexible and for Mass Effect, game authentication is needed only at the initial launch of the game on a particular machine. Re-authentication is required if the game is re-installed on a previously authorized machine for any reason.
I did not ask about authenication or what is required. I asked if I get an activation back if I uninstalled. This reply does not answer my question. In fact the only 3 possible answers should be Yes, No, or I Don't Know.
I asked again, trying to be clear to exactly what I wanted to know. A Chester responds:
Quote: Thank you for updating on us, Electronic Arts Technical Support. I do apologize for the inconvenience. If you just reinstall the game, you do not need to re-activate the game again.
Again, that is not what I am asking. I am not trying to be rude. I am not trying to be a jerk. I am trying to get a straight forward answer to my question and EA Support continues to fail to understand SIMPLE ENGLISH!
Yes, No, or I Don't Know. How hard can it be?!?!?!
Scott, you need better support staff, man. They just are not comprehending what I am asking.Edited By Ares Draxus on 06/15/08 13:24 |

They can't give a straight answer for something they don't seem to know about...
I mean, this is all kind of strange. They implement a consumer-penalizing system and no one seems to know how it actually works?
How lame is that? |

Of course, what I meant was, what is a topic regarding EA's support quality doing in a Bioware Self Help forum? |

EA=Bioware. EA purchased BW quite some time ago, so yeah...there you have it. |

Yeah im in the same boat as you pretty much on the damn question about how many hardware changes will trigger an activation... I blew a gasket on the guy ...did the same stupid BS that happened to you....answer my question with something totally idiotic and unrelated to my question...
Now its going to sit there because they completely avoid it now and send it to a higher plain of existence out of view so I can only get to it through my email....I doubt ill ever get a damn direct and straight forward answer... |

I am just asking for a single word answer. Yes or No. If they don't know why the hell can't they just fess up and state that they don't know.
Since this is Mass Effect related and is dealing with a technical issue of the game, as well a technical issue of Bioware's owners I figure this is the most appropriate forum to post this.
If a Biowarian can answer this I would be most appreciative. If a Biwoarian can push the issue with EA Support about answering questions with answers instead of putting what they want and ignoring the question altogether that would be helpful to. |

See how on the left it says I own Mass Effect PC? Well, I used to. For two days. Before I had the audacity to downgrade my O/S and upgrade my video card on the only PC I've installed the game on. Now I'm struggling with EA Support trying to get back into the game that has branded me a pirate.
The last message I got from EA was from Michael: "If I may ask, how many times did you tried to install the game? Did you install the game on different computers? That error message occurs when the game has been installed on more than 3 times."
I'm going to say from that reply that you have 3 activations full stop. |

Don't give up, this kind of activation limit would be illegal. Even Windows can be activated many times more!
He's just testing you, he's suspicious because EA always is. He wants you to make a false move and get mad so that he could argue that you've propably installed the game on more than just one PC. Don't fall for that, you're right and he is wrong. Stay calm and argue reasonable.
I keep my fingers crossed for you. |

That is the feeling I am getting from EA. EA doesn't give a crap about the legit gamer. They don't answer our questions and what answers they do give are meaningless drivel. When actual problems do arrive they do nothing to solve those problems. They give the fanbase the run around, treat legit users as criminals, and make what is suppose to be a fun hobby actual work.
I am not trying to ruder, negative, or any of that, but it this is truly grating on my patience. Bioware and EA, should we just give up and not bother with your games any more or are you actual going to give us straight answers to our questions!?!?! |

I hear that . Whats really grating on my nerves, is that there are people who PIRATED this game, effectively paying $0 for it, who don't have to worry about this and a bucket load of other issues |

BTW, when you respond, you could probably be a broken record, just like the answers you're getting (off topic), until you get the honest answer.
Just thinking about EA support nowadays for me makes me want to take a stress ball and throw it out a window.Edited By TJX2045 on 06/16/08 08:30 |
