But then it is a teaser. And one from a Cerberus perspective. Maybe, they're being fed false intelligence so shepard can infiltrate them or.. something. *Grasps at straws* (I know, that's an extreme scenario, but meh)

This is just your first taste of Mass Effect2. We are not yet discussing the details of the game.
However, as Jack said, don't delete your Mass Effect 1 saves yet.

Not at all. That could still mean Shepard is dead, but they'll use the other info from the save.

And it may just be that Shepard is not at all dead. He may have gone underground to deal with threats he could not otherwise reach. The Geth may just think that he's dead. Ooooh, so many un-answered questions!
