Yes I know there is already a thread on the N7 armour but I wanted to draw people's attention to this before they waste their money.

The N7 Armour for Xbox Avatars can only be worn by male avatars. I was hoping to create a cute cartoon version of my FemShep only to find that it isn't available in the female avatar's clothing options.

I have to say that I'm not terribly impressed by this.

I am a dude so I have a dude avatar...but this is ridiculous! At least have some sort of warning. Not everyone who plays your game is a guy Bioware!

I missed it at first but saw it the second time I looked at it.

There is a warning only on the website but not on Xbox Live Marketplace which is where I purchased the damn thing from.

This... just...

What?!

N7 armor was the ONE piece of avatar gear I would have bought, right away, no questions asked.

Come ON, guys! Why are we gendering this? Even the Gears of War stuff is both genders, when you can't even play a female avatar!

Clone Wars armor, Halo armor, all unisex! One of the few games ever where we get to play an awesome female soldier, and we get THIS?

I've been pretty critical of BioWare's marketing, but even I wouldn't have suspected them of dropping the ball on this.

But seeing as they haven't been exactly organized these past couple days, maybe you ladies can hope that there was some breakdown in the process that has caused the female version to not get released right away. Hopefully it's on its way.

Yeah, but some people -including women- DID want N7 armor and have said many times they'd fork over the points for it.

It just doesn't make any sense. It's not like there's any differences in the armor between men and women.

Case in point: The Roxy stuff and the Steampunk corsets/petticoats I can understand. But the N7 armor is UNISEX.

What's so hard for whoever was in charge of this to understand?

Totally agreed - this is ridiculous. As you said, not a good couple of days.

Even aside from the issue of disrespect toward female gamers, I can think of at least several male gamers/ I know with female XBL avatars. More importantly though, when you take the issue of DudeShep's "iconic" status and all the rest of Bioware's marketing approach, I can totally understand women who play ME feeling totally fed up. Avatar clothing is a small thing in a lot of ways, sure, but how hard is it check both boxes and make it available to everyone?

You try being a female in this fandom.

That's all I'm saying.

I take it that DanP is not a John Rawls fan.
