I'm on the verge of pre-ordering a ME2 copy. However, I'm still waiting do so until certain things are cleared up.

In the gameplay video that G4TV put up recently ammo counters can be seen(?) This completely kills credibility for me as, tech-wise, it's a step back compared to the weapons in ME1 (50 years earlier). Even if it is supposed to hint at a heatsink getting full, ejected and disposed. Don't tell me Bioware changed this to appeal to the GOW-type of players... as they will certainly buy ME2 even with the old overheating system. The average gamer is smart enough to understand the heat system and doesn't have to see ammo counters onscreen in order to get how things work.

Also, health regeneration seems to happen very fast. I don't know if this is because of certain suit mods? If it is the standard regen rate, I hope picking a higher difficulty setting lowers the regen rate and makes the game a tad more challenging.

DON'T TRUST ANYTHING about that combat vid other than the fact that combat will be more intense and visceral. The HUD is VERY transient, it's almost 90% sure that that IS NOT the final version.

I'd have preordered LONG AGO if Bioware had the sense to announce the CE...

And devs have pretty much confirmed that Shepard was in GOD MODE in that vid, it helps if you want to show off a lot of the level fast and not spend precious minutes hugging cover like we'll have to. That's just how demo's ARE.

As for the counter, I really don't think we know ANYTHING about it. My theory is that the bottom left hand counter is the amount of shots left in your specialized brick of ammo, that we purchase regularly** and the counter on the gun is a counter for the shots before a heatsink

** I really look forward to this mechanic because in ME1, once you got the X series of a mod, and you outfitted everyone in the best gear, you ended up almost always with 999 medigel and 99999999 credits, and NOTHING to spend it on,

I'm still waiting for the CE before I preorder.

Anyway, I figured they can explain regenerating health by saying that in the 2 years between games, the military found a way to have medigel sync with the armor's hardsuit so that when a soldier takes damage, a certain amount of medigel is ejected to instantly heal the wound.

As for ammo, that can be explained as in the 2 years between games, soldiers found a way to eject heat sinks and put in new ones mid battle so that they didn't have to be sitting ducks waiting for their weapons to cool down.

Yep, and I'm not surprised, so we really can't do anything complaining about it when they're still fine-tuning everything. The waiting sucks...but hey! Time to go play DA:O

If it really does hint at reaching max heat before having to insert a new sink, then why isn't the counter rising again when shepard isn't shooting?

NOT THAT COUNTER, it's the counter on the actual gun, and that DOES rise, so there you have it.

Like I said, the bottom counter is more than likely a limited amount of shots that are yielded from a specialized brick of ammo, be it Inferno, Snowblind or other

The long answer? Waiting for a DRM removal patch for Mass Effect 1, and a confirmation on Mass Effect's 2 DRM before I pre-order. I like Bio-Ware, I'd still thank them, but that's almost the entire reason I watch the forums.

The short answer? Waiting.

I'm poor, so no pre-order for me. I would if I could though.

Just an FYI my bro pre-ordered Dragon Age from Gamestop and he said he called the store today and they are not getting it in til later tonight. Not sure if other retailers are the same as this or not. May have something to do with where to we live though. But Mass 2 might be the same so if you decide to pre-order you may want to check other retailers. Who knows. We are still going to pre-order from Gamestop though to get the extra gear and such. Its just one extra day of waiting it appears for us.

This is why I ordered DIRECTLY from EA.com. UPS just dropped off the game 10 minutes ago now excuse me while I go drown myself in one hell of a game:)
