Alright at the end of the game, there's a choice where you can fight or make Saren redeem and kill himself before his final form.
I was watching a friend of mine play and his charm was maxed out, however, he couldn't choose the option to make turn Saren and was forced to fight him.
What are the necessary Charm/Intimidate stats needed to do this? |

It's odd that your friend had his charm maxed out and still couldn't do it. Was he a paragon or a renegade? Paragon points work toward charm in the game. More paragon points will increase the available ranks you get in charm. If he leaned more toward renegade, or didn't develop paragon well enough, it would've meant he couldn't completely max out his charm (there would've been a few grayed out boxes left).
Renegade boosts intimidate, and paragon boosts charm. It's not enough just to invest skill points in charm. You've got to back it up with paragon points. Does that help? |

If he kept feeding skill points into his charm skill without boosting his paragon level, he wouldn't have been able to completely max out charm (there would've been a few grayed out boxes left). |

Was your friend able to persuade Saren back on Virmire? The two events are connected, but I'm not sure how much. Supposedly, if you can persuade Saren back on Virmire, then it's easier to persuade him on the Citadel. |

I found it just as weird.. Possibly a glitch?
He was playing through it, and I told him that he could either fight Saren twice, or make Saren blow his brains out then fight his robotic form.
So he tried to do that, and the two options for either paragon or renegade were non-selectable (Gray)
So after the dialogue we checked his stats, and his Charm was completely finished.
He had only one bar in Intimidate.
So my thought was that perhaps he needed both Charm and Intimidate points.
And yes, he was a pure paragon. Saved the bug on Noveria, spared civilians on that plant stage with the Thorian, and was pretty much good..
But why it wouldn't let him choose, is unknown.
We tried reloadnig the game, turning the xbox off, but no avail.. |

As far as I know, you need to use charm/intimdate on Virmire. Otherwise, it's unselectable.
Oh, and I think on your very first playthrough your forced to fight him. I think... |

Nah, I convinced him first way through. I think you have to do it both on Virmire and the Citadel, that'd make sense, because it doesn't *work* on Virmire, so maybe you're like, eroding his loyalty to Sovereign, I dunno. |

Mass Effect 1 General Discussion (No spoilers allowed)
I think this should be in Storyline discussion, although I'm sure most people knew the final fight would be with Saren. |

I would imagine that you' need to succeed at charm/intimidate both on Virmire and on the Citadel. I managed to get him to shoot himself with charm on my first time. My question is, do you need to stick with either charm or intimidate on Virmire to get it on the Citadel or can you use either Persuade skill? Edited By Jedi Master of Orion on 11/04/09 03:07 |

I hadn't received the option to have him kill himself with charm and intimidate maxed out from multiple playthroughs. It must be tied in with my Virmire decisions or the fact that I went right to business on the Citadel. _________________ I can only shake my head as my brothers bicker over this single lonely world.
