Hi,
I recently finished my 2nd playthrough (on hardcore). I had done both dlc's, and I finished Level 59, just a couple of thousand exp off Level 60. When I started a playthrough on Insanity I hit level 60 about midway through Eden Prime. This was very annoying! I hear on IGN that finishing level 60 may have benefits for ME2.
I do not really want to play it all the way through again, but would like to have a saved game to import to ME2 at Level 60 with my choices from this Hardcore playthrough.
Are there any ways to pick up exp that you know of?
I did all assignments already, main missions, dlc and hunted down all the thresher maw's I could find. Unfortunately it was only after having killed half the thresher maw's I found out you got more exp by killing them on foot, so only half were killed in this way.
Do the thresher maw's re-spawn? I can find no more.
I can not think of any enemies left to kill.
Any ideas where I can get just a little extra exp?

The exact same thing happened to me - level 60 halfway through Eden Prime

Anyway, I would recommend going through each and every star cluster (starting at the top left, and going up and down in zig-zags) and checking that, firstly, you have been to every planet, and secondly, combing each one, even if you have previously visited it, starting top-left corner each time, and working to the right, the down, then left, then down, in zig-zags, to make sure you have not missed anything.

That's how I make sure I've done everything possible in the game. It's arduous, but it works. Also, make sure you check and recheck all asteroid belts for minerals.

Oh, and no, enemies do not respawn, I am afraid.

I did get Level 60 on my second playthrough on the 360 (played it once before on the PC so knew roughly where everything was). I had a lot more trouble getting the Ally Achievement for Liara, took me two games just to get her.

The strategy guide, or a guide greatly helps to make sure you complete every assignment, including the collection ones.

If you want lv 60 in 2 playthroughs, it helps to have beaten the game at least once before you start your current career so you don't have to worry about the lv 50 cap during your first playthrough.

I got my last character to around lv 54 or 55 in a single playthrough, so I can't imagine that lv 60 in 2 playthroughs is that hard to do if you do everything. It would also help to not kill everything in the Mako if possible, because you get an xp penalty if you do, compared to if you killed enemies on foot. Having barrier/immunity or a sniper rifle helps with that.

Thanks for the info.
Unfortunately I have definitely done all assignments/collections on both playthroughs, dlc just on second. On my first playthrough I was over level 50.
I am literally 2000(ish) exp off level 60 at the end of my second. On the last section of the game, I made sure I killed absolutely everything because I knew it was going to be tight.
One thing I am not sure of is that in the last fight there is a section where you can use charm/intimidate and I used it. If I had not have done so would I have got more exp (extended fight)?

I doubt it. They surely would not penalise you for using charm/intimidate. I think you get as much experience for doing that as you would have done for having the fight. I may be wrong, though, but it seems very unlikely that they would unbalance it that way.

I had this same problem, but I was okay with it because I loved playing with him so much. I got to level 59 on my 2nd, then when I got spectre status I did 1 side mission and got to 60. You're just going to have to grin and bear it.

Speaking of charm/intimidate...there are a few assignments where if you persuade the enemy leader to back down, you miss out on being able to raid a base of enemies. I'm not sure exactly how much of a difference it makes, exp wise, but since I love combat, I usually try to avoid any options that have my character leave an enemy base without killing everyone inside, unless they would get renegade points from doing so.

In the four situations I've checked (Helena Blake, Lord Darius, Major Kyle and Charn), choosing to fight always gave more XP. It makes sense because cleaning out a room full of enemies requires more effort than convincing their leader. It also means the highest-XP option may result in a less interesting story in Mass Effect 2, because all these characters are killed.

On the original topic, I believe you need to be a minimum level 56-57 character at the end of the first playthrough to reach level 60 in the second playthrough.

Hi, Thanks.

I am going on memory from quite a while ago but I am pretty sure I was at least level 56 after my 1st playthrough. I always do all side-quests/go through every box crate/pick up all items when I play games. I checked a list of assignments towards the end of both playthroughs to make sure I missed none.
If I had known about getting out of the Mako before killing things I would have made Level 60 a LOT earlier. In the 1st playthrough I killed none on foot, and in my second while about 2 thirds of the way through the game I got out because my Mako was about to die against a colossus, finished him on foot and noticed I got more exp. Too damn late.

It's better to learn from someone else's mistakes than your own.

I learned about Mako's XP penalty from reading a thread on BDtS, because the turrets guarding the main facility were giving foot soldiers some difficulty.

I just finished the game on my second play through and didn't see this posted anywhere really. At level 59, I still had 758759 in experiemce with Virmire/Ilos still left. I was able to finish the game at level 60. So if you kill all the geth outside of the mako, you should be able to make just over 100k in experience from that point on.

Just was looking for a number when I was getting close. I had a few creatures that I killed that I didn't get experience for later in the game on the run from the elevator to the council chambers, but just wanted to toss a rough number out there.
