I tried to post this in the spoiler forum but it gave me an error. Admin - if this is too spoilery please move.
I've been catching up on the new ME 2 trailers released recently. Why does everyone think Shepard is dead? The ending I had in ME1 left Shepard alive and when I looked up the alternates, I didn't think any of them killed him. So, what'd I miss? Thx. |

Let's bring you up to speed. At the beginning of ME2 the Normandy is attacked, presumably by the Collectors, and after the attack Shepard is presumed KIA. Fast forward to two years later and viola! Shepard isn't dead but very much alive. | |

Yeah watch the E3 Reveal video, it shows parts of the Normandy destruction. | |

In addition we have been informed that if you rush too soon into ME2's final mission, it is possible your Shepard (and crew) can actually die and not be available for ME3. The initial trailer that had everyone thinking Shep was dead simply played on this game mechanic to raise suspense.
