Yeah, if you got the game legally, then there would be a CD key...
You should try going into EA support, or return the game to where you bought it from for exchange of a new one. Just tell them it was defective (which is the truth). No CD key inside the case = faulty.
But this has nothing to do with ME 2. Maybe you should go post in the ME forum.Edited By Deinonychus_Z on 11/07/09 17:11 |

Well I did Direct 2 Download so I never got a hard copy of the CD key BUT wouldn't it be with the game manual somewhere? I think that's where most of the games these days are hiding them _________________ "I've had enough of your snide insinuations!" |

I have studied the booklet until my eyes hurt! I've found nothing..no code.. Edited By ZenmeisterSeyr on 11/07/09 17:23 |

Return the game then and say it was defective, like I said before..
Or contact EA.
Returning the game is probably much easier. |

Hmm... I believe it's EA that's dealing mostly with the game codes, at least it does with the new DLC expansions. It uses the EA Download Manager (I use the same manager for my Sim's game).
However, after registering my Sim's game about a month later my password stops working and my it recognizes my registration code as invalid. I go through their customer support (fill out the required information and send my emails) but EA has decided to remain mute on the subject.
I'm contemplating a lawsuit...
Anyway, this all relates to your problem because you might run into the same trouble with EA when you email them about your registration code. _________________ "I've had enough of your snide insinuations!" |

Something odd at any rate. My CD key came on a little white square card tucked between my manual and a alien ware ad ( ) inside my box.
Besides aren't you prompted for the key during the install, or am I getting my games mixed up?

Is this the message that you see?

If it is then it's one of the following:
1. Someone has done a number on you.
2. Your not telling the whole truth.
3. Your honestly surprised by EA not telling you what it's doing.
4. Your here to start trouble. _________________ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth... |

In Bio-Ware's defense this was the last game in print that used SecuROM in such a way. Dragon Age just used a disk check, which is in a nut shell a code or pattern unique to a disk or game that is hidden and checked ... whenever. It does not require activation, registration, or anything else. Although, it and like string are still attached to every copy of Mass Effect, as far as I know it was the last game by Bio-Ware to use it.
Anything after Mass Effect things should be kosher. I should point out this change from Bio-Ware was prompted by them recognizing a problem, and querying the community on it!
Such a system, Disk-Checks only, is Bio-Ware's state DRM for the time being, it has yet to be confirmed for Mass Effect 2. So while I have a degree of faith that ME2 will just be a disk check, Having already been burned, I hold out on pre-ordering it until the system is locked in as a disk-check only.
--=] Summary [=--
Don't count Bio-Ware out just yet. [edit] It's possible this whole thing could repeat, but at least for the time being, things look to be looking up. [/edit]
Edit: Btw, not that I expect a answer, but I would like to renew my request to be able to install my copy of Mass Effect SecuROM free! _________________ Love is patient, love is kind.
