I am an old school rpg guy (I remember saving up money to buy a sound card for BG) so I prefer my RPG's on PC. Now I got Mass Effect on console because I had heard that I was not coming out for PC (one of the reasons I got a 360). Now I know Mass Effect 2 will come out for both. I want to get it for PC but my question goes with relation to the save game files. Since it looks like they will have an impact on the plot development of the game (and I do not want to lose the progress I made so far) will I be able to transfer the data over to the pc or should I just go get the console version again?
I any one knows thanks in advance. |

Judging by what the devs have already said, if you want to use your saves on ME2 it looks like you should plump for the 360 version. I don't think they're transferable.
That said, PC version of ME1 is something daft like £5 in shops now. It's not like you have to spend a fortune to build up a PC save if you prefer to play ME2 on PC. |

I think that there should be a fan-made save editor tool. I don't have such problem, because I played it on PC, but I believe that such a tool should be made shortly after release. |

I'd say get it on 360 if you're really attached to your savegames. But ME1 is the Steam Deal of the Weekend, so you can get it for PC really cheap without the SecuROM DRM. So if you prefer it on PC, just get it via Steam and do a new playthrough before ME2 comes out and you can get the sequel on PC as well
And no, you can't transfer saves from your 360 to PC or vice versa.Edited By Delerius_Jedi on 11/07/09 18:49 |

Question for Devs - Is ME2 being programmed natively on Xbox360 or PC? I always want to play the game on the system it was originally coded for. _________________ "I can bludgeon pretty hard." |

Well ME1 was originally a Xbox 360 exclusive before it came to PC. But I doubt any of them are the lead platform since I hear that the 360's architecture is almost the same as a PC. Though I could be wrong. _________________ "Nobody pancis when things go according to plan, Even if the plan is horrifying" -Joker |

Personally I'm going with 360 version on release with the PC version later. The main advantage for me is the Xbox is hooked up to the TV and sound. I could plug the PC in but every time I've set it up there I've not left it too long and it's to much hassle to keep switching. I just find the Xbox more convenient (minimal settings hardware faff) and relaxing to play.
PC I'm sure will have slightly higher quality textures and lighting if you crank up the settings but I don't really notice after about ten minutes of play unless there is something really ugly (*cough* Dragon Age textures). Thanks to Gears of War though the Unreal engine is pretty well optimised for the 360 so even if the PC version is better ME2 should still look pretty good on the 360. Finally I find console games tend not to drop in price as quickly and PC games are usually available for longer. If I am going to get a console and PC version of the same game I always go with the console first. |

No transferring saves between 360 and PC. I think ME1 is on sale for $9.99 on steam right now though so if you wanted to swap over now's the time! _________________ twitter: truffle |

Yep, sale ends tomorrow? Day after tomorrow? Still has some odd strings attached to it, but nothing the off the shelf PC version doesn't. The Steam version doesn't have SecuROM though! I almost purchased a second copy of the game for that low a price and not having SecuROM. Almost. (I'm not rich enough to buy the same thing twice when I have a 'working' copy already.) _________________ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Isn't there a Non-disclosure agreements so they do not disclose any information about Microsoft's development technology?
(Basically I think it's just a standard C/C++ environment that any PC can run, with the exception of it uses controllers instead of a keyboard and mouse, and want to preserver the image as a stand alone console. They probably force C# now though, being that 'language' is a clone of C/C++ made by Microsoft.) _________________ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It's no big deal if ME2 is coded natively for PC or X360. Both platforms are very, very similar, so I think that there will be almost no differences. There could be (sharper textures for PC!), but there won't be |

Big difference when you play the game with all settings maxed on a PC, and until you do, you really don't know what you're missing. _________________ spectre/adept/nemesis |

I honestly don't think it'll have a huge impact on ME2 if you have a save game from the first one. I expect it to be in form of some simple dialog and maybe a cut scene. There's only so much they can do you know. |

The PC blows. Who want to keep upgrading for every game you get? |
